Frederick Jay “Rick” Rubin (born March 10, 1963) is an American record producer and the co-head of Columbia Records. Rubin was the original DJ of the Beastie Boys, and co-founder of Def Jam Records with Russell Simmons. He then established American Recordings. With the Beastie Boys and Run–D.M.C., Rubin helped popularize a fusion of hip hop and heavy metal music, and he has worked extensively with hard rock and heavy metal groups, notably Danzig, Slayer, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Slipknot, System of a Down, and Rage Against the Machine. In the 1990s, he produced the “American Recordings” albums with Johnny Cash. MTV called him “the most important producer of the last 20 years.” In 2007, Rubin was listed among Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Knives
Screw a huge knife set, you can survive in a kitchen with 1 to 2 knives. A chefs knife and paring knife are usually the best way to go. And trust me, investing in a good quality knife will save you so much time in the kitchen, and make cooking more fun. When looking at knives there are two places that really know what they are doing, Germany and Japan. Shun, Wusthof, Global, and Henkels are all decent knives. Henkels are the cheapest and I do believe Wal-mart is carrying them. I have a Wusthof 22cm chef’s knife and paring knife, which set me back about 120 bucks for both. A little expensive but they are knives you will be able to give to your kids. I saw a forum post once where a girl had a 10 year old Wusthof chefs knife and it snapped at the bolster (right before the handle), they sent her a brand new one for free.
